Curated by Gold-Smidt Assembly, the exhibition SØLV (Silver – translated from Danish) showcases contemporary sculpture from across the globe. Eight international artists have contributed, each lending their uniquely fresh expression to traditional or commonplace materials, such as glass and ceramics, to create an unexpectedly exciting meditation on the special characteristics of silver.
In its scandinavian context, silver holds particular meaning as both a precious commodity in folklore and a description for the distinct quality of Nordic light that casts a metallic, other-worldly hue over the landscape. It is this light, with its ability to transform familiar surroundings with its surreal, haunted ambiance, that informed our approach to SØLV.
